Mel-Lofi
FREE
Mel-Lofi is a free virtual instrument plugin (ROMpler) for digital audio workstations on Windows and macOS.
This virtual instrument is based on the Mellotron samples recorded by Taijiguy and brings a total of 23 presets distributed across 5 main instrument categories.
All the samples were slightly edited and most important, were looped for best playability. But even so, the sound remains rough and lo-fi, we wanted to keep the feel and sound of the original instrument.
As an extra, we added 4 original effect layers: vinyl, radio noise, mechanical belt noise, and rain. They each have on/off button and volume sliders, also they’re labeled with their corresponding note on the keyboard.
Moving on to the interface, you’ll find controls such as volume, pan, preset attack/release, also reverb, tune with 3 octaves, LFO modulation, and lowpass/highpass filter cutoff.
Mel-Lofi can be used in Lo-Fi Hip Hop, Ambient, Chillout, Pop, EDM and other similar styles. It is available in VST/VST3 Windows and VST/VST3/AU macOS – compatible with the latest versions, also natively compatible with M1 chips.

Thank you too for your kind words!
Dear Karl at Audiolatry,
I find your Mel-Lofi a very constructed and well built mellotron emulation with quality sounding and crystal clear clarity on the sounds for this VST Plugin.
Best regards to you and everyone at Audiolatry Instruments.
Sincerely,
Kevin
TY so much so much fun 🙂
I am glad you liked it, thank you too!
So i unzipped the VST3 and then copied the folder into the right VST3 folder. I also know my DAW scan this folder, but it doesn’t show in the DAW. Running Win 11 and Studio One 5
Did some research and it looks like Presonus isn’t supporting VST3 by default, gotta change it in the advance setting.
Thanks for the instrument anyways!
thats not true in my exp lol. Ive had multiple presonus interfaces and softwares in the last decade or two all supported vst3 by default.
Well, it’s just something i read on a 3rd party page
https://process.audio/support/studio-one-my-plug-ins-arent-showing-up
They aslo do not recommend using vst3, and i have no idea why. I can’t find the VST3 version in my DAW, so i¨m using the 2 for now anyways.
In windows it’ll be one or the other. Sometimes programs scatter everything on install Everything.exe keeps them on check
C:\Program Files\Common Files
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
Thank You
Many thanks for providing such a good measure of fun for free 👍 Very easy to use and well-sounding. You can go crazy with the lo-fi FX settings along with the high-pass filter in particular. Excellent plug-in. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of five.
Hey Richard, yes this is the idea! The first thing that came to mind when I made this plugin was highpass combined with radio noise, emulating old tunes haha. I am very very glad that you like it, more plugins will come 🙂
Kind regards,
Stephen

sorry but i can’t put it in my fl studio
When I did all the processes and put it to download, a screen appears saying “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.”
Could anyone help me with this problem?
no windows 7 compatibility is big bummer. from what i’ve heard audio sample wise, this is one of the better sounding mellotron plugins, free or paid. ah, well, all those who have proper system requirements enjoy!
I downloaded the plug in in AU and VST but Logic Pro x doesn’t find it. I don’t see it in plug in manager and on the channel strip either. Any tips?
Brilliant, the best free mellotron up there with the Redtrons and it’s 64 Bit and VST3, thanks 🙂 , only request would be a dark interface option, it’s one of the few light-coloured plugins I have and can be very bright when loaded in a night session when all else is dark
Sometimes it doesn’t work properly. Stops sustaining a note. But then I run Logic a different time and works fine.
